Position Summary/Essential Duties: The Administrative Director of the Neurological Institute (NI) will partner with the NI Physician Director/Vice President to set the overall growth, business, and clinical strategy of NI. This position drives execution of operational components of the NI business plan and strategy across UH continuum of care. A key component of this role involves monitoring and proactively planning to achieve performance targets, with an emphasis on those related to patient access, patient acquisition & retention, referrals and quality outcomes. This role is responsible for promoting a patient-centric culture, defining models of care and driving operational efficiency initiatives. In addition, this role assesses NI market position, including market share, growth trends and financial performance relative to competitors, and drives improvement. The role is responsible for physician and APP recruitment and alignment with independent providers who support the continuum of care within the institute. This position is accountable for executing the NI brand and promotional strategy and using the strategy to promote alignment between the clinical and educational missions. This position is responsible for determining NI financial targets in collaboration with the NI Physician Director/Vice President, monitors the NI budget and holds shared accountability with the NI Physician Director/Vice President for contribution margin and budget. This position directly manages talent management and frequently collaborates with System leaders System-Wide Strategy * Work closely and collaboratively with senior leaders across UH to deliver the strategy. * Assess market position, including market share, growth trends and financial performance relative to competitors and promote service growth in conjunction with the NI Vice President. * Set strategic plan, which addresses opportunities to expand/extend ambulatory and acute sites of care and clinical programs, in collaboration with the NI Vice President. * Determine business initiatives and plans to execute on System strategy in collaboration with the NI Vice President and execute on strategy. * Develop and execute on the communications and branding strategy (promoting alignment between the clinical and educational missions) in collaboration with the NI Marketing Lead, and provide to both the NI Vice President and UHPS COO for approval. * Establish a culture of collaboration and integration that enhances the provision of excellent patient care and patient satisfaction, and provides a safe patient care environment. * Anticipate and act on emerging healthcare trends to position the System for the future, in conjunction with other System leaders. Operational * Interface with UH System Hospital Presidents and regional leaders to enable expansion of NI brand and quality standards, collaboration of efforts, as well as resolution of challenges. * Determine financial targets in collaboration with the NI Vice President and the Finance Lead. * Monitor the budget and hold shared accountability with the NI Vice President for contribution margin and budget. * Prioritize and allocate resources and services in collaboration with the NI Vice President. * Drive execution of operational components of the business plan across UH continuum of care. * Monitor, proactively plan to achieve and approve performance targets, with an emphasis on those related to patient access, patient acquisition & retention, referrals and quality outcomes. * Determine baseline patient experience measures (Access, Registration, Wait Times, Time to initial appointment, etc.), tools and indicators and patient satisfaction targets, keeping them aligned with those set at the System level. * Manage patient satisfaction strategies and outcomes within the institute to drive and evaluate consistency and define the ideal patient experience, in collaboration with the NI Vice President. * Evaluate progress against growth and performance measures and develop action plans in collaboration with the NI Vice President. * Present the dashboard to the UHPS COO on a monthly basis, in collaboration with the NI Vice President. * Establish, monitor and execute initiatives to drive quality change and improvement. * Define clinical operations and workforce model in conjunction with NI Vice President.. * Drive and evaluate consistency across administrative practice policies, processes, and tools. * Define communications expectations between primary care, ED and specialty physicians (i.e. communications with primary care physicians at time of discharge) in collaboration with the NI Vice President and Regional Leaders. * Ensure that the NI achieves accreditation in collaboration with the NI Vice President. * Embrace and drive improvement, particularly through new administrative initiatives. People Leadership * Manage staffing and scheduling of non-physician and administrative roles. * Coach and develop non-physician and administrative roles. * Ensure necessary equipment, space, and supply needs are met. * Align physician staffing resources with business priorities in conjunction with NI Vice President. * Select and evaluate leadership and collaborate with the NI Vice President to set leadership succession plans. * Collaborate with the NI Vice President and other System leaders to engage in physician workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding and succession planning. * Oversee recruitment and employment strategies (i.e. employed physicians, community-based physicians) in collaboration with the NI Vice President. * Evaluate physician performance, behavior, satisfaction, and performance management standards in collaboration with the NI Vice President by monitoring physician productivity targets and standards. * Evaluate Directors and Managers that support and report to the VP. * Oversee development & implementation of a physician development plan, including a clinical learning and development strategy, in collaboration with the NI Vice President and UHPS COO. * Determine clinical integration physician engagement/alignment strategy in collaboration with the NI Vice President. * Identify key talent and develop leaders within NI teaching potential physician leaders administrative skills. * Communicate clearly and persuasively to build support for initiatives, engaging physicians and others.
