S&ME is seeking an individual with a passion for Geotechnical Engineering and the design of soil-supported structures. If you are ready to take your career to the next level, come join our Geotechnical team in Lexington, Kentucky as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients.

What You Will Do:

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead geotechnical projects from initiation to completion, ensuring safety, risk mitigation, quality control, and adherence to project schedules. This role involves overseeing geotechnical analysis, design, and implementation while managing project execution and maintaining client relationships. Collaboration with internal and external teams is essential to improving project outcomes and efficiency. You will also have the opportunity to mentor and support the geotechnical team in technical and project management activities.



  • Technical Expertise: Conduct geotechnical analyses for shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, and settlement. Provide recommendations for ground improvement, write reports, prepare proposals, and contribute to business development.
  • Project Management: Manage project execution, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and project objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Guide and support geotechnical staff in analysis, design, reporting, and construction inspections.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary contact for internal and external clients, ensuring project objectives align with expectations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement initiatives to enhance project efficiency and apply best practices in geotechnical engineering.



Who You Are:



  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, Mining, or Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
  • You have at least 10 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering
  • You have a minimum of 5 years in a Project Manager role
  • You have a Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • You have the skills to develop and grow business opportunities



Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:



  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions, outside of normal business hours when necessary
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Traveling out-of-town (may include overnight) for assignments as necessary
