Who we are looking for


Purpose

This leadership role within US Medical Affairs will direct and lead efforts to bring innovative approaches to the use of Real-World Evidence (RWE) to Chiesi in the US' CARE and AIR franchises. The selected individual will have local leadership responsibilities within US Medical Affairs for a wide range of activities, including capability and talent development, resource management and deployment in concert with the therapeutic areas, as well as supporting an organizational culture that promotes data-driven decision-making. The selected individual will be a thought leader within Chiesi in the US for the pragmatic use of RWE in the drug development process to solve complex problems facing our medicines and its communication to the external environment. This role will require gaining alignment with project teams, global and local leadership and with external stakeholders in developing novel scientific approaches to provide answers that matter to therapeutic and medicine questions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and execution of the combined RWE (AIR & CARE) US Medical Affairs operating plan. This includes an increase in the integration of real-world data (RWD) sources to enhance evidence-based decision making through research programs, while providing medical leadership as appropriate on cross-functional teams supporting local and global RWE, medical, and US customer plans. Publish, where appropriate in high impact journals.
  • Patient-centric outcomes and healthcare impact by providing RWE insights into medical decision-making by representing US Medical Affairs AIR & CARE on appropriate internal and external teams. Enhance collaboration internally and externally between data scientists, medical affairs and commercial teams through appropriate cross matrix and external initiatives.
  • Foster the appropriate use and adoption of appropriate analytic technologies (AI, Block Chain, Machine Learning, et al) to improve RWE reliability and applicability in AIR and CARE TA's to provide answers that matter to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Foster the appropriate use of real-world data to drive business impact in AIR and CARE TA's by reducing the time from data collection to actionable insights and evidence generation to inform the appropriate use of therapies with patients and health care providers.
  • Ensures timely and appropriate management of the US Medical budget including project spend Mentors and coaches' other colleagues, as appropriate.


Experience Required

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with a focus on evidence generation, specifically a focus on real-word evidence methodologies/approaches (preferred). Increasing levels of leadership responsibility in the space with demonstrated ability to think and act strategically with demonstrated tactical execution and delivery of results.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to influence, work and align with multiple Chiesi-internal and external stakeholders.
  • Where appropriate, develop data requirements to meet the RWE objectives of the therapeutic areas and local franchises through both regulatory-grade and observational data sets and research.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills with experience managing multiple priorities in combination with attention to detail as well as the ability to prioritize in a changing environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Deep understanding of HCP and Payer evidence needs and what is required to support these needs including promotional review boards or committees.
  • Extensive knowledge of patterns of medical practice, healthcare delivery and the current and evolving landscape within the US will be required.
  • Candidate will need to demonstrate credibility and presence based on their knowledge in this area combined with the ability to communicate effectively on both the principles and associated methodologies.
  • Well-organized, operationally effective, and able to both develop project strategies and ensure reliable implementation of projects with a flexible and solution-driven attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining successful stakeholder relationships (internal and external)
  • Proficiency in public speaking

Education

MD, DO, PhD or PharmD professional degree required with appropriate epidemiological, health services research, economic or social science research training.
