Overview

CAES Lansdale PA seeks a customer facing Manager, Quality Engineering reporting to the Director, Quality and Mission Assurance and collaborating with Program Management, Operations, Engineering and Contracts to provide a vital link between IDS and our customers with a passionate focus on customer satisfaction.

Participate and accountable for complete quality life cycle management from proposal and purchase order award processes to hardware delivery including Returned Material Authorization (RMA).

This is a People Leader role responsible for developing site level improvement strategies to prepare for increasing customer requirements and expectations to support business growth and cost reduction. Position is ~70% tactical direct charge and 30% strategic planning.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Quality engagement for Proposals and Purchase Order review and approvals to clearly define and execute the program quality requirements via program quality plans. Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements including First Article Inspections.
  • Actively develop and maintain productive external customer relationships improving processes between both by identify waste and implementing streamlined communications.
  • Responsible for some medium and long-term future planning to support department and/or major business strategies.
  • Manage RMA Warranty returns, applicable metrics and drive holistic failure analysis
  • Manage Customer Scorecards and applicable Quality Initiatives with department functional leadership.
  • Develop and support teams that drive continuous improvement, take initiative with accountability and actively implement improvements and instill those characteristics across staff and departments.
  • Plan, assign, coordinate and review the work of Quality Assurance Engineers and/or supervisors. Adhere to established company policies and procedures or other guidelines as they relate to assigned area.
  • Collaborate with Corrective Action Board as the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and warranty risks
  • Assist those who develop, track and report visual metrics, including KPI's for area; manage value add metrics by identifying and solving problems, making improvements and advancing process control.
  • Provides guidance and direction to subordinates based on organizational goals and program needs. Evaluates performance and facilitates growth and development of individuals as well as teams. Supervise, coordinate and perform a variety of administrative staff work such as: performance evaluations; make hiring recommendations and fill staff vacancies as needed, recommends disciplinary actions; approve vacations and time off; prepare work schedules and assignments; supervise the activities of assigned personnel; monitor reports and record keeping activities filed by assigned personnel for completeness, accuracy and adherence to policy and procedure guidelines; instructs staff in departmental policies and techniques and provides training.
  • Lead staff to participate in product development, assuring details are planned for to assure product producibility, reliability and compliance to customer requirements.
  • Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices.
  • Ensure 6S is adhered to and sustained within work areas
  • Leads a team of Engineers to provide excellent Quality Assurance for Lansdale validated with best in class customer satisfaction. Requires deep knowledge of the processes used to produce product, processes used in the development of product and the analytical use of data to take corrective and preventive actions to improve the products and processes to improve profitability.

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in quality assurance, manufacturing, programs or engineering
  • 3 years' experience managing professionals
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel

PREFERRED:

  • Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math; or MBA
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in quality assurance, manufacturing, programs or engineering
  • 3 years' experience managing professionals
  • Customer and Contracts knowledge/experience

  • Technical skills: solid understanding of AS9100, AS9102, ISO 9001 and MIL-PRF-38534 and Mil-Std -883 , and Mil-STD -883129235 requirements; may be required to become a green or black belt in Six Sigma.
  • Communication skills: In person, electronically and in writing; ask questions and rephrase statements to clarify meaning; ability to read and comprehend engineering specifications and complex instructions; communicate across organizational levels; ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations; ability to write detailed reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before customers or employees; ability to communicate with quality, integrity and respect in a way that inspires others and encourages innovation and possibilities;
  • Computer skills: working knowledge of networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface using Power Point, Excel. Word and Outlook software programs; ability to use Enterprise-wide information systems such as Oracle, TIPQA, ShopFloor and PowerBi.
  • Math & Data Analytical skills: Intermediate to advanced mathematical skills, including geometry, data and statistics; review and compare data to identify inconsistencies and determine priorities; ability to collect, analyze and summarize information to a general understanding; ability to think abstractly and separate complex ideas into simple elements;
  • Time Management and Organizational skills: flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality; work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information;
  • Excellence Behaviors: remain engaged, proactive and positive even in tough circumstances; own assignments and be fully accountable for their success; align actions, behaviors and conversations to what matters most; bring out the best in others and recognize the value in every person's contributions; ability to work independently as well in a team environment.

Annual Range: $118,701.65 - $178,052.48 Annually (Lansdale, PA). Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
