Primary Purpose of Organization Unit |
Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Facilities, Facilities Management comprises of two departments - Facilities Operations; and Facilities Planning and Construction. The primary mission is delivering required services, financial oversight, and providing a liaison with appropriate Federal, State, and local agencies on matters related to planning, constructing, operating and maintaining the physical campus environment.

Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of this position is to perform lead grounds worker duties within the Grounds Department. This position is responsible for leading Grounds teams within designated work zones. This position directs day to day activities within the zone unit as assigned by direct supervisor. This position is responsible for a wide range of supervisor directed tasks and the use of the ground's frequency task list of both developed and undeveloped grounds. These areas range in type from highly detailed landscaped areas with specific plant materials to athletic fields with specialized turf to undeveloped areas. These tasks consist of but are not limited to turf care and renewal, landscaped bed care and renewal, tree and shrub pruning and renewal, tree removal and chemical application under supervision. |
Job Description |
Maintain grounds areas on the
UNCP Campus. Provide institutional services support for State agencies and universities in the areas of building environmental services grounds keeping. Employees perform a variety of duties in the maintenance and cleaning of grounds areas around athletic fields, dormitories, offices, welcome centers, and other state buildings. Work is guided by a daily schedule for general assignments. Work is performed subject to close review and inspection, with problems and special assignments not covered by instructions referred to a supervisor. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving operating heavy equipment and delivering large quantities of grounds keeping supplies and equipment. Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion.
Position also performs coverage for short staff situations as well as event coverage during and outside normal campus business hours.
This position is Mandatory Personnel: Employee whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of adverse weather or emergency events. |
