General Responsibilities |
Howard Community College invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month position in Accounting. Position is effective July 2025.
HCC offers accounting courses for an A.A. degree in Accounting, a
CPA Candidacy Certificate and a Certified Bookkeeper Certificate. This position requires the candidate to demonstrate the ability to teach successfully, practice excellent communication skills with all colleagues, faculty and students, demonstrate proficient technology skills, show a strong commitment to teaching excellence, have demonstrable interest in creative achievement, and commitment to the community college mission. Successful candidates will demonstrate leadership competency. Teaching responsibilities may include a combination of online, hybrid or face to face (day or evening) courses. |
Work Performed |
Position duties include teaching HCCs various accounting courses, preparing relevant teaching and assessment materials, engaging and advising students toward academic and career plan, writing syllabi with course expectations and objectives, timely grading of course work, submitting required reports, participating in college and community responsibilities, coordinating accounting courses, coordinating responsibilities with other faculty and staff, and hiring and coordinating as appropriate for adjunct faculty. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. |

Required Qualifications:
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, professional accounting experience, and capability of teaching college level courses.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or master's degree credit equivalent in Accounting is preferred.
- Availability for evening CPA candidacy advising or classes is preferred.

HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The
ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The
