About the Position The Security Specialist (Tier II) provides specialized armed security services and security protection to our County leaders and ensures the safety of County facilities and property. This position also functions as a strategic consultant to departments to enhance safety and advance organizational capabilities through Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques. It recognizes and responds to workplace violence and performs physical (facility) security assessments. We Require
High school diploma or GED Two years of armed security-related experience within a criminal justice system, security industry, corrections, law enforcement, or military police environment Must successfully complete a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Concealed Weapons Permit (CCW) within 120 days of hire Must possess or have the ability to obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within 60 days of hire Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's licenseby the time of hire

Job Contributions
Provide security protection to County Supervisors and County Officials at public meetings and special events Direct the security command center operations, including monitoring CCTV, multiple Access Control Systems, and digital alarm receivers - fire, burglar, and 911 computer systems Patrol County property by answering alarms, investigating disturbances, and taking charge in potentially threatening situations requiring the use of physical restraints Provide security presence concerning employee relation matters and contentious public relation situations and provide escort to County facilities and parking lots for employees and visitors Prepare reports to the Security Services Supervisor regarding shift activity and special issues Coordinate with emergency agencies during emergencies, including contracted security personnel Initiate, coordinate, and participate in emergency response preparedness and field exercises in partnership with Maricopa County Departments Enforce County parking regulations by issuing tickets and controlling traffic Use approved levels of force to interdict and physically restrain individuals in an effort to maintain civility, safety, and security
Working Conditions
This position's work environment will include working in an armed capacity, including wearing a gun belt, body armor, or other Department-required or issued equipment as authorized. The physical environment includes running for short periods, walking continuously for one hour, climbing stairs, operating vehicles, operating mechanical equipment, remaining standing for a period of up to three hours, sitting for extended periods, utilizing Department issued or approved lethal or non-lethal weaponry (including the physical restraint of unauthorized or threatening persons). This position may require working evenings and weekends for executive protection assignments and rotational assignments, which may include overtime Exerting 20 - 25 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly The position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
