Senior Tax Analyst

Location - Latrobe, PA or Pittsburgh, PA

This position is an integral member of our global tax department and will play an active role in various U.S. and international tax matters for Kennametal, including tax compliance and tax accounting, tax audits, and tax planning. Primary areas of focus will include U.S. federal and state income tax returns, quarterly financial reporting of income taxes, participating in various U.S. tax audits, and supporting transfer pricing, tax planning, and other special projects.

Key Job Responsibilities

* Preparation/review of U.S. federal, state and local income tax returns, franchise tax returns, estimates and extensions, as well as gathering data for international components of the U.S. federal return

* Prepare/review quarterly and annual worldwide tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, effective tax rate and tax reserve analysis, tax account analysis, and SEC disclosures

* Lead or assist on U.S. federal, state, and local tax audits

* Assist with U.S. transfer pricing processes and documentation

* Ensure compliance with SOX controls as they relate to income tax

* Assist with tax planning

* Monitor tax impact of accounting pronouncements and tax legislation

* Manage tax projects and studies performed by outside consultants

* Conduct technical tax research and documentation as needed

* Assist with M&A income tax matters and special projects as needed

* Interact with various functional groups throughout the company regarding tax matters and build effective working relationships inside and outside of the tax department

* Support the evolution of the tax reporting function, tax technology tools, and technological enhancements.

Qualifications

* BS or BA required; CPA, MBA, JD, and/or MS in taxation preferred

* Minimum 2-4 years of corporate tax experience in either a large public accounting firm, law firm, or multinational company

* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

* Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

* Collaborative and resourceful team player with positive attitude and energy and close attention to detail

* Demonstration of strong analytical skills, and the ability to develop solutions around new facts or tax law changes

* ASC 740 experience preferred

* ERP and tax compliance software experience preferred, preferably SAP and Corptax Provision and Compliance
