Overview
The Director of Nursing will have multiple areas of responsibility, and therefore must have exceptional organizational skill, and be skilled at mentoring and developing leaders. The Director plans, organizes, and directs nursing practice for areas of responsibility and does this in accordance with the Health System's Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy. The Director ensures the total patient experience is exceptional both in the Quality of Care and in the patient perception of services as defined and measured by system dashboard goals. Interviews, selects, orientates trains, coaches and mentors and evaluates the performance of partners, providing corrective action when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science Degree in Nursing, If the individual has a BSN, a Master's Degree in a related field is preferred. Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible hospital nursing leadership experience. Experience working in Magnet environment desirable. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE Licensed professional nurse in the state hospital/clinic is located. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Passing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring). Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check. Must be able to follow written/oral instructions. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Excellent interpersonal/communication and conflict resolution skills. Genuine concern for people. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Adept listener with the ability to interpret concerns. COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, intermediate computer knowledge is required. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occupational exposure is category A which states all employees in the specified job classification have occupation exposure. SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands.
