Position Summary

Maintains aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other regulations (ICAO). Performs maintenance, repairs, and minor overhauls on Duke Energy aircraft; Conducts periodic inspection of aircraft, including daily pre- and postflight service, to determine mechanical condition in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations Performs aircraft cleaning, towing, and refueling Maintains fuel farm and ground support equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other regulations (ICAO);

  • Maintains records for aircraft in accordance with regulations and Aviation Department policies;

  • Participates in the Safety Management System.

Duties:
  • Plans, manages, and controls the maintenance of aircraft within the bounds of FAA, Duke Energy, and Aviation Department policy;

  • Performs maintenance, repairs, and minor overhauls on Duke Energy aircraft;

  • Conducts periodic inspection of aircraft, including daily pre- and postflight service, to determine mechanical condition in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations;

  • Maintains FAA and aircraft records and logbooks at the highest standard in accordance with regulatory and company requirements;

  • Ensures compliance with Airworthiness Directives;

  • Assists with aircraft towing and fueling;

  • Attends type specific training as required at a manufacturer-approved school;

  • Accompanies aircraft when it is at a service center for inspection, repair, or modifications;

  • Coordinates with scheduling, pilots, and department management, as well as outside vendors and FAA representatives, as needed

Basic/Required Qualifications
  • High School/GED

  • Minimum of 5 years work related experience

  • Holds a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate

Desired Qualifications
  • Detailed knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and procedures

  • Familiarity with FAA and NTSB Documenting and reporting criteria

  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems including electrical, hydraulic and avionics and engines

  • Proficient in computer software programs applicable to aircraft maintenance.

  • Possess the communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of company personnel.

  • Fork lift current qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.

  • Office duty when not performing maintenance technician duties.

  • Travel involving extensive periods of time away from home including international destinations.

  • Required to work weekends and holidays as necessary.

  • Duty may include any time of day or night as required.

  • May be required to be on standby status if not on official vacation.

  • Pre-flight, post-flight and aircraft servicing is accomplished outside in all weather conditions and extreme noise levels associated with airport operations.

  • Fork lift and other lift and ground support equipment operations.
