Overview The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center providesengineering and technical services in the areas of aeropropulsion and space propulsion and power test facilities. TFOME management is dedicated to excellence in service and to providing outstanding technical opportunities for our employees. We specialize in providing unique products and services to NASA Glenn. We are currently seeking Electrical Test Engineer Inter candidates to join our team that will work with Senior Engineers in the planning, design, and technical execution of electrical engineering/technical tasks for a wide variety of electrical systems including, test related apparatus, and specialty hardware for an assigned test or facility project at a research test facility on the TFOME contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center. Responsibilities FUNCTION OF POSITION Work with Senior Engineers in the planning, design, and technical execution of electrical engineering/technical tasks for a wide variety of electrical systems including, test related apparatus, and specialty hardware for an assigned test or facility project at a research test facility. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Work directly with NASA and TFOME engineers. This could involve cross-disciplinary teamwork, where communication and collaboration between different teams are crucial for success. Qualifications 1. Must be working in and completed a minimum of 2 years curriculum towards a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
2. Able to work with Senior Engineers in the planning, design, and technical execution of electrical engineering/technical tasks and project management for a wide variety of electrical systems including, control, and data systems for facilities, test related apparatus, and specialty hardware for an assigned test or facility project at a research test facility. 3. General knowledge/experience of one or more aspects related to Electrical, Electronic, Data Systems or Computer Engineering are highly desirable. 4. Knowledge of C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, AUTOCAD, MATHCAD, and SPICE are highly desirable. Familiarity with MS Office products is a must. 5. Knowledge of National Electric Code and familiarity with Hazardous Area, ISA Standards where applicable, and general OSHA safety classifications are highly desirable. 6. Understanding of power distribution systems to 480 VAC, basic semiconductor device theory, steady state and transient data acquisition systems are highly desirable. 7. Understanding of specialized devices such as limit switches, pressure, vacuum and flow switches, proximity detectors, flame and combustible gas detectors, photocells, thermocouples, transducers, etc. desirable. 8. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to quickly integrate into a team environment. |
