RN Clinical Educator-Part-time Day - Wound/Ostomy

Job Summary

Job Overview:

Develops, implements and evaluates programs for orientation, competency assessment, training and continuing education for all levels of staff in the Wound/Ostomy Unit. Provides support for clinical practice at point of care. Role models patient care practices through direct patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates nursing care and practice as well as wound care activities in conjunction with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital

• Assesses patients daily, evaluates appropriateness of wound consults, and coordinates care/patient education and follow-up

• Acts as a liaison with physicians and other health care team members

• Participates in house-wide skin/wound care programs for staff education including Prevalence and Competency Days

• Develops and participates in unit PI

• Assumes some varied and flexible scheduling to meet patient and staff needs

• Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patients age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Nursing required,
• Master s Degree in Nursing preferred,
• Wound/Ostomy certified RN with at least three years experience,
• Knowledge of principles of adult learning,
• Experience using an electronic health record, preferably Epic,
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with others effectively,
• Competent in use of all Microsoft Office applications,
• Effective verbal and written communication skills,
• AHA BLS and ACLS Provider required,
• National Nursing Certification required,
• If not certified at time of hire, expectation to receive certification within one year of hire,
• Current New Jersey RN license,

Schedule requirements:

Day shift 32 hours per week
