Cyber Security Analyst

The Cyber Security Operations group resides within the central Information Technology Division. We have been charged with protecting Brookhaven National Laboratory's cyber assets, with a focus on detection and prevention. This is an entry-level position with a focus on end-user interaction and handling trouble tickets but will also have exposure to a wide range of Cyber Security-related tools and technologies.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalency (2 years' experience for every one year of education).
  • 1-year experience in network/desktop/systems administration
  • Understanding of networking, firewalls, and/or access control lists
  • Working knowledge of Linux, macOS, or Microsoft Windows
  • Rotational off-hours support and the ability to be on-site within one hour is required
  • Security clearance requirements: Must undergo and receive a favorable disposition in a preliminary background investigation (criminal, credit, prior employment, etc.); must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q-level security clearance which requires that you: be a US citizen; have no felony convictions or other serious offenses; have an honorable discharge from military, and a good credit history. Obtaining and maintaining a security clearance is a condition of employment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience working with multiple operating systems
  • Experience working with virtualization technologies
  • Basic understanding of PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive on-site during normal work hours and for emergency call-in hours
  • Must possess a valid NYS driver's license and use of private car

Brookhaven Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $63450 - $105800 / year. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
