Key Position Details:

Open to Recreation Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Movement and Dance Therapy, or other related fields.

  • 0.5 FTE (40 hours per 2-week pay period)
  • 10-hour day shifts (8am-6:30pm)
  • Every 4th weekend
  • Prior history working with acute, chronic, and persistent mental illness in adults is preferred
  • Trauma or experience in trauma informed care practices and motivational interviewing is preferred
  • Board Certified Music Therapist-Certification Board for Music Therapists preferred upon hire
  • Registered Art Therapist- Art Therapy Credentials Board, preferred upon hire

Job Description:

As a member of the program therapy team, providing mental health services to complex patients in the clinical setting. Provides therapies; group, individual and families, focused on identified needs. Provides expertise on care and discharge planning processing.

Allina Health has a robust Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line that offers the full continuum of care including integration, specialty outpatient clinics, addiction and co-occurring services, partial hospitalization and day treatment, and inpatient care. There are more than 290 mental health and addiction clinicians dedicated to the highest quality patient care across 45 primary care clinics, 6 integrated psychiatry locations, 4 hospital-based clinics, 15 partial and day treatment programs, 15 Allina and affiliated Emergency Departments, and 7 hospitals with 270 inpatient beds. The Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line is led by both psychiatry and psychology clinical leadership, in partnership with operations to advance mental health care for patients across Allina Health.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Clinical assessment activities.
    • Assesses patient level of risk to self and others.
    • Assesses level of function and applies varied modalities.
    • Evaluates patient and family needs.
    • Evaluates programming needs.
    • Documents as required and notifies team of risk assessment.
  • Department planning and clinical practice.
    • Assigns patient to specific group or individual therapies according to team treatment plan.
    • Conducts group and individual therapies as scheduled.
    • Provides case management for assigned patients in collaboration with care team.
  • Demonstrates understanding of role in developing and maintaining a safe environment.
    • Promotes safe treatment milieu
    • Provides development and assistance with safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a human services field
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in clinical practice in acute care setting

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist - MN Board of Marriage and Family Therapy required upon hire or
  • Licensed Independent Social Worker - MN Board of Social Work required upon hire or
  • Licensed Professional Counselor - MN Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy required upon hire or
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - MN Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy required upon hire or
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification required upon hire and
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource preferred within 60 Days

Physical Demands

Pay Range

Pay Range: $32.20 to $44.13 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
