Security Engineer II

As required by our governmental client, this position requires an ACTIVE Top Secret and/or DoE Q clearance to be considered. NO EXCEPTIONS!

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Top Secret cleared Security Engineer II to support the maintenance, performance, and security of enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot technical issues, support software and hardware operations, and execute system administration tasks to ensure stable and secure system performance.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Security Engineer II: $90,000 to $100,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Security Engineer II Responsibilities Include:



  • Provide guidance to tier I security engineers to assist with troubleshooting, site issues, and network sensor deployments.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for mission-critical monitoring services and provide expert-level guidance on implementation of monitoring.
  • Serve as the escalation point for tier 1 security engineer problems and handle any issues that may occur for escalation.
  • Build relationships and foster growth between ESOC and NNSA Sites to bolster detection sharing and capabilities.
  • Partner with other EDE team members to solve issues in relation to detection engineering, automation, and monitoring.
  • Conduct training sessions with EDE team members and security engineers to maintain an environment for sharing and collaboration.
  • Maintain subject matter expert knowledge about ESOC toolsets and processes to provide continual process improvement.
  • Implement new technologies as acquired to bolster the detection capabilities of the ESOC.
  • Identify manual workflows and implement automation to help streamline processes and improve MTTD and MTTR.
  • Follow up on technical issues with operations, call center teams, and stakeholders for timely resolution.
  • Identify and address process gaps, improving system inefficiencies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge through certification and professional development.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.



Security Engineer II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • Five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline (or four (4) years of work experience in lieu of a degree).
  • Compliance with DoD 8570 CND-IAT I, II, or III within 12 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 3+ years' experience supporting Windows/Linux servers in a hybrid enterprise environment.
  • Expert problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Expert knowledge of system security technologies.
  • Excellent customer service focus and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
