Work Schedule:

Per Diem Registered Nurses must commit to work a minimum of seventy-two (72) hours per six (6) week scheduling period as follows: i. Inpatient, Radiology, and Dialysis: At least twenty-four (24) hours of the seventy-two (72) hours must be weekend shift hours and at least twenty-four (24) hours of the seventy-two (72) hours must be scheduled for the evening or night shift. These hours can be combined to meet the requirements. A minimum of one (1) summer and one (1) winter holiday may be required. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

  • 28-bed unit with a diverse medical/surgical patient population which provides nurses with the ability to utilize their expertise in assessment and intervention.
  • Patients may be admitted with an expected short stay post operatively, for a medical condition or until they transition to a specific nursing unit.
  • Patients are received from multiple services such as Emergency Department, Operative Services, interhospital transfers and direct admissions from clinics, or patient homes.
  • All staff work together to ensure patient's needs are being met in a timely and effective manner with high patient satisfaction results.

Education


  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred


Work Experience



  • Inpatient Units and Central Float (Adult & Pediatric), Venous Access Team (VAT), Radiology, Hemodialysis, Cardiovascular Laboratory: Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health's Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit. Required
  • eICU: Two (2) years of nursing experience Required
  • Relevant RN Experience Preferred


Licenses and Certifications


  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Required
  • Relevant Certification Preferred
