GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. The Nurse Assistant follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions. These duties may include but are not limited to: - Blood draws - Vitals - Performs venipuncture and chemsticks -Team roundings -Identifies concerns related to patients, staff, and self, and communicates with the responsible RN UNIT DESCRIPTION : 12 bed Medical Progressive Care Unit that the specializes in caring for patients in resp failure, sepsis, and stroke. Patients are too sick for the general floor but not sick enough for the ICU. Patients are hardwire connected to bedside monitors. Typically day shift has 2 NAs and night shift has 1 NA. Covid patients are routinely on the unit. MPCU patients have many of the same drips as the ICU except for vasopressors and sedation. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
