Civil Engineer (Transportation)

In this position, you will engage in a variety of tasks associated with Highway Maintenance, as well as the design of roads, bridges, and drainage control initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass providing guidance and specific objectives, along with evaluating the results of the work performed. Key duties will involve executing preliminary studies and investigations, drafting plans or specifications, and recommending designs for maintenance operations, all while ensuring adherence to approved codes and standards. Furthermore, the role entails the creation of comprehensive roadway construction plans, performing design calculations, and estimating costs related to labor, materials, and equipment for initial projects. You will also conduct field investigations, request permits for water obstructions and encroachments, and design components of hydraulic systems according to established criteria.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title); or
• Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists;or
  
• Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  
• One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation.
