Description
Position: Doctor (On-call) Location: Gateway Recovery Center Detox- Inver Grove Heights & Brooklyn Park, MN Pay: $110-$145/hr. Job Summary: The Doctor is responsible for providing on-call support ensuring the accurate and safe provision of all health-related services and procedures. In carrying out the position's requirements, confidential working relationships with leadership, clinical staff, administrative staff, and guests must be maintained. Must follow all state and federal guidelines, exercise sound judgment and discretion, demonstrate initiative, trustworthiness, cooperation, and dependability while performing assigned tasks and responsibilities. Essential Duties: This job is expected to complete the following functions. This is not an all-inclusive list. This job may be assigned other functions or tasks as business needs dictate. This is meant to be a general description of the most essential duties only. Clinical Procedures
- Ensure the accurate and safe provision of all health-related services and procedure
- Provide guidance for admission cases with medical complications
- Provide the facility with 24 hour on-call availability for medical consultation, when scheduled and if needed, be able to provide onsite physical within 24 hours of request.
- Provide guidance for medical staff to ensure proper adherence to medical protocols.
- Send bridge scripts for clients who have MAT appointments to ensure they do not run out of medication prior to MAT doctor's appointment
- Attend mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
- Report any unsafe conditions or client concerns to the Executive Director.
- Provide legible, written documentation of any completed in the EHR system and must be completed by program and DHS regulations.
Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age and must be free of substance use problems for at least two (2) years immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact.
- Must have a valid license in Minnesota as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or Physician
- Must have a valid DEA license
- Must have previous related working experience in the mental or behavioral health field
- Must be able to pass a DHS background study or able to obtain an exemption directly from DHS

- The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual V (DSM-V) Diagnostic Criteria for substance use disorders
- State and Federal law regarding confidentiality of alcohol and drug treatment records and HIV testing/status including 42 CFR, part 2
- Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- American Society for Addiction Medicine (ASAM) standards when developing referral plans
- Business and office practice/procedures
- Healthcare industry, especially substance abuse and mental health services
- Technology proficiency with various software packages including EHR/EMR and keyboarding skills
- Continuous quality improvement

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- While performing the essential duties, the Medical Director will typically be indoors, in a controlled environment, and will experience moderate noise levels while working in the working environment. The Medical Director will regularly be required to talk and hear. The Medical Director may be required to lift/move up to 50lbs and will regularly be required to pull, extend arms, stand, walk, stool, kneel, or crouch, sit, use hands to fingers to handle, feel, or type, and reach with hands and arms.
