Temporary Research Technician

Ball State University is accepting applications for Temporary Research Technician.

This position will be responsible for designing and collecting data for a biomechanical and functional morphology project. They will be required to demonstrate proficiency and independence in operation technical equipment (e.g. high-speed video, scientific balances, and advanced video analysis and statistical software) and a high level of competency in handling live lizards to perform experiments. The position will perform research under the direction of Dr. Kathleen Foster.

Bachelor degree in Biology by time of appointment.

Experience in a university research lab.

Master of Science in Biology or some branch of Organismal Biology.

At least one year of experience working in a university research lab (example, honors project) focusing on biomechanical or morphological questions.

Assist in designing biomechanical experiments.

Construct experimental apparatuses for experimental animals to interact with to achieve research objectives.

Collect high quality biomechanical and functional morphology data.

Demonstrate proficiency and independence in operating specialized technical equipment/software (including, but not limited to, high-speed video cameras, scientific balances, advanced video analysis and statistical software).

Demonstrate high level of competency in handling live lizards to perform experiments.

Perform animal husbandry tasks as needed.

Mentor existing undergraduate students in the lab and instruct them on biomechanical and morphological research techniques.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
