About Ameren Illinois Ameren Illinois provides electric transmission and distribution service and natural gas distribution service. Every day, we deliver electricity to 1.2 million electric and 816,000 natural gas customers in central and southern Illinois. We deliver safe, reliable energy to more than 1,200 communities. About The Position The Superintendent, Distribution Control is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the physical operation and switching of the subtransmission and distribution systems in order to maintain or restore electrical service to customers. Take responsibility for safely and adequately controlling, loading, switching, and troubleshooting of these systems and associated substation equipment. Key responsibilities include: * Lead, train, and develop Distribution System Operating Supervisors (DSOS) to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the subtransmission and distribution systems and the continuous operation of the system. * Provide direction to DSOS' in the reliable operation of system equipment to ensure the safety of the public and company personnel, while minimizing risk to system equipment. * Oversee distribution operation support in association with emergencies and major outages. This includes receiving the analysis of information from the DSOS' as they monitor a variety of systems and communicate with field workers determining the extent of system outages. This may include after hour support. * Provide project coordination for work requests to address major customer's and contractor's needs, including responding to their reliability concerns and planning for their requested scheduled outages and new equipment installations. * Oversee the supervisors as they write detailed switching orders and oversee the application of the Workmen's Protection Assurance program. * Collaborate with Division Superintendents and substation superintendents to follow projects including system expansion and maintenance activities to ensure the integrity of the distribution systems. * Monitor the resolution of all issues and conflicts concerning the Distribution Control Office with both external and internal customers, including Customer Contact Center, EOC, etc. * Contribute to the long range planning activities for Distribution Operations through the development and implementation function goals and objectives. * Identify and implement process improvements in Distribution Operation to assure safety, control costs and improve productivity. * Assist in the preparation of the annual Distribution Operations budget. * Serve on task teams and participate in special projects as required. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or technically-related discipline is preferred. Ten or more years of relevant work experience (e.g., distribution system, electric operations, gas operations etc.) required. Some experience in Construction or Customer Service is preferred. Four years of supervisory, distribution operating supervisor or grid technical advisor experience required. In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate: Knowledge of electrical distribution system design and operations; ability to lead and develop a team of employees in a complex environment; ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business and performance requirements; proficiency with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; solid problem solving skills for the purpose of solving issues related to team performance; change management aptitude and ability; takes a proactive role in bringing about change, applying new ways to develop the business through improved management of people and processes; ability to think strategically and identify critical success factors when developing strategy and plans; ability to process information accurately in order to create plans of action, provide direction to others and manage projects to completion in a detail-oriented fashion; and the following Ameren competencies: Think Customer, Inspire and Engage, Foster Innovation, Drive Results, Champion Learning, Build Trust, and Be Strategic. Additional Information Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates. Compensation Range: $128,700.00 - $199,500.00At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
