Position summary: A career-minded Water/Wastewater engineer, looking towards advancement, is needed to join JMT's fast growing Water/Wastewater consultant engineering practice. Employee will plan lead engineering designs in the water/wastewater field through working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards and processes; conduct multiple design projects simultaneously, prepare and update project schedules; develop, analyze and document critical design elements; coordinate the efforts of a design team to determine requirements and incorporate feedback. The selected candidate will become part of an established team of engineers working on exciting sewershed study and rehabilitation, new sewer design, water distribution, water/wastewater treatment, and pump station projects in the Mid-Atlantic. Employee is expected to provide quality engineering evaluation and design services efficiently with limited supervision to support the project team's objective and provide customer satisfaction on all projects, delivering projects of high quality on schedule and within budget.

Compensation for this position is $45-55/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Analyze project requirements and information from alternative studies to develop an accurate report for submittal.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects/tasks
  • Assessing and identifying collection/distribution system performance deficiencies, predicting future issues, and developing solutions for planning and design projects
  • Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with hydraulic designs, sewer rehabilitation, water and sewer design, water and water/wastewater pump station and treatment process design, engineering economics, preparation of specifications and engineering report writing
  • Candidates should have a firm grasp of general heavy construction principles; environmental facilities operations-related experience is considered a plus
  • Perform design computations
  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
  • Develop or review the construction cost estimate.
  • Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
  • Attend meetings with clients and assist taking meeting minutes
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and understand how they fit into the project and design.
  • Quality review of project design in accordance with the Project Management Plan.
  • Technical oversight and guidance/support of Design Engineers within department

Required Experience

  • 5-10 Years' Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Proficient in related design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Written and communication skills



Qualifications Preferred



  • Possess a Professional Engineering License
  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
