The Fetal-Neonatal Neuroimaging and Developmental Science Center (FNNDSC) at Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Assistant for projects related to development and implementation of novel in vivo imaging techniques of the placenta and the developing fetus using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The ideal candidate will be good at communication and organization. The research assistant will work on projects funded by the NIH focused on placental and fetal brain imaging. In addition, Boston Children's Hospital is a tertiary referral center for a variety of developmental disorders of the heart and brain and there are several non-NIH funded research projects of these patient cohorts.

This Clinical Research Assistant II will be responsible for:

  • Recruiting, consenting, and scheduling pregnant women for clinical add on and full research MRI studies. Working hour flexibility is necessary for early morning MRI scans (7am) and later time research scans ( between 5:30pm-8:30pm).
  • Preparing IRB protocol applications, submitting amendments and all other regulatory documentation requiring review by the IRB. Maintaining and updating information as required by Hospital and Sponsor/NIH guidelines.
  • Performing data collection at study visits (e.g. questionnaires and other documents). Helping conduct MRI scans, and/or biological sample handling.
  • Making sure that all investigators at the different research sites involved in this multi-centered project (i.e., BCH, MIT, MGH, BI and BWH) are up to date with their scheduled tasks. Helping with the organization and the agenda of the weekly, monthly and quarterly progress report meetings.
  • Building and maintaining study databases.
  • Conducting preliminary analysis and data organization tasks.
  • Assisting with web page design and maintenance.
  • Work with staff and investigators of the primary NIH projects as well as the overlapping and dependent studies within the FNNDSC.
  • Provides positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations.
  • Contributes to the teamwork within and between departments and organizations.

In order to qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in STEM.
  • 1-year minimum of research work experience.
  • Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in which the information or problems are moderately complex to complex.
  • Well-developed communication skills in order to provide critical information to patients, effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, and the ability to mediate fair solutions.
  • Advanced writing skills.
