UC Systemwide Procurement is the procurement/supply chain hub for the University of California system, with over $10 billion in annual spend. We partner with campus procurement offices to develop and implement systemwide supply chain strategies and policies that leverage UC's vast purchasing power to optimize spend and deliver positive social and environmental impact. Systemwide Procurement is transforming how UC purchases goods and services to maximize benefit to the UC system while improving quality and service to our campuses and beyond. POSITION SUMMARY

UC Systemwide Procurement (SWP) is seeking a confident and experienced Web Content Development Intern to engage in searching out data and resources and creating, editing, designing and managing online content to build out our UC Procurement Portal Clubhouse. The Clubhouse is a "one-stop-shop" of information, reference materials, job aids and more, for use by SWP staff, part of the UC Office of the President. The goal of this project is to increase staff access to and engagement with these job-related resources to enhance their work performance.

This internship offers hands-on experience in data and resource research and development, digital content management, website design, and collaboration with SWP Communications team members, providing a practical application of academic knowledge in a professional setting.

This is a full-time paid summer internship position, with a flexible start and end date. If you are motivated by creating useful and well-organized web content, have an eye for graphic design, and want to gain real world experience while working with a fun team, we encourage you to apply!

Key Responsibilities

  • Research into and organization of web resources related to various procurement functions
  • Development, uploading, organization and design of content on the website using a content management system (CMS) and focusing on user experience and desired actions to meet procurement objectives.
  • Monitoring website traffic and engagement metrics to assess content performance
  • Regularly updating existing content to keep it current and relevant
  • Reviewing content for accuracy, grammar, and style consistency
  • Working with team members within Systemwide Procurement and across the 10 campus UC system to ensure cohesive content strategies

Skills and Abilities / Required Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of HTML
  • Familiarity with web-based Content Management System (CMS) platforms like Drupal, Wordpress, or Adobe Experience Manager
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools like Canva or Adobe Photoshop
  • Strong research, written, and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members
  • Keen attention to detail to ensure content currency, accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, innovative, and matrix-organized team.
  • Aptitude for identifying challenges and finding creative solutions to overcome obstacles encountered during the information gathering and content creation process.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing requirements, priorities, and sources throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and interest in learning in an enterprise environment.
  • Self-directed, with the ability to work independently without continual supervision

Education Required

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field.
  • Currently enrolled University of California undergraduate student
  • High school graduate and/or equivalent experience/training required.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement within the state of California. The person hired is required to reside within California and is required to report to work on-site at UC's Office of the President (UCOP) located in Oakland, CA on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, subject to change.
