HDR is seeking a Noise Specialist to join our team and support environmental and architectural acoustics projects throughout the United States. Our Acoustics Practice offers award-winning subject-matter expertise in six technical areas: aviation, architectural acoustics, environmental acoustics, traffic noise, rail noise, and vibration. Our acoustics team specialize in acoustical modeling, measurements, consulting, and expert witness services. Responsibilities In the role of a Noise Specialist 1, we'll count on you to:
- Conduct environmental noise and vibration studies on various project types
- Work on architectural acoustics, mechanical noise, sound isolation and building vibration-related analyses
- Assist in the preparation of data collection and develop noise reports
- Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
- Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior acousticians on larger projects
- Interact with staff and work with local regulators and subconsultants
- Use state-of-the-art instruments to measure noise and vibration, and to process and analyze that data is required
- Perform other related duties as necessary
- Willingness to travel to project locations as needed, including occasional overnight stays
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience in environmental noise or architectural acoustics
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Proficiency with GIS and GPS
- Familiarity with Larson Davis instrumentation and software
- Experience with current guidance documents for acoustical analyses (FHWA, FTA, FRA, etc)
- Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Math, Physics or closely related field
- Understanding of GIS and GPS
- Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with state-of-the-art software used to process and analyze noise and vibration measurement data
- Must also be familiar with relevant acoustical standards
