Salary/Grade: NEX/9
Target hiring range for this position will be between $18.00-$21.00 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary
Conducts tests and procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records observations and measurements and collects and compiles data in a research lab; requires a practical understanding of a limited number of standard scientific techniques.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Follows pre-defined protocols, policies, procedure, regulations, Good Clinical and Good Laboratory Practices and conducts standard and repetitive experiments and completes basic trouble-shooting techniques.
- Sets-up, operates and maintains standard lab equipment.
- Using an entry level of skill, completes the following activities
Molecular Biology:
- DNA, RNA, Protein isolation, purification and expression
- PCR, RT-PCR
- Plasmid preparation
Cellular Biology:
- Cell culture, cell isolation
Histology:
- Tissue fixation/processing: embedding, preparation of blocks and sectioning, staining
- Immunohistochemistry
Other
- Records test results and may maintain databases.
- Completes standard and routine clerical duties such as copying, filing, data entry, word processing, etc.
- Maintains inventory of reagents, mice and lab supplies
Miscellaneous
- Completes other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
- HS diploma and some basic science courses are required.

- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols
- Attention to detail and accurate record keeping
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
