Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking Postdoctoral for the Department of Anesthesiology within the New Jersey Medical School.

Under the direction of the PI, the Postdoctoral Fellow will study the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in genetic forms of Parkinsons disease (PD). The individual will also contribute his/her time towards writing manuscripts and review articles that directly result from his/her research.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Participates in experimental design and carries out experiments including cell culture (various primary cells as well as immortalized cell lines), high resolution fluorescence imaging and image analysis, biochemical as well as molecular biology approaches.
  • Performs perfusion, cryosectioning, immunocytochemistry approaches, stereological counting and Matlabbased automated image analysis.
  • Operates and maintains experimental equipment; assists in writing protocols for IRB and IACUC.
  • Genotypes distinct knockin and knockout animal model systems.
  • Records, quantifies and analyzes data from experiments.
  • Assists Principal Investigator in data processing.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • PhD in the fields of Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Biological Sciences, or closely related fields.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have a strong background in cell biological approaches, high-resolution image acquisition and image quantification.
  • Must have demonstrated record of achievements and publications, good communications skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Must have the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with primary astrocytic and/or neuronal cultures is welcome.
Equipment Utilized
General cellular lab equipment.
