Ameresco is currently seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to work remotely in the US and travel about 30% of the time. Responsibilities:
Utilize deep knowledge of grid-scale power systems to design, develop, and implement projects involving reciprocating engines, gas-fired power systems, and CHP systems ranging from 10-100+ MW per engine. Provide discipline-specific system design: layout (utilizing CAD/BIM); calculations (utilizing appropriate software, e.g. ETAP, SKM); and other related design services including coordination with other disciplines (architectural and engineering / internal and external) under the guidance of the Director of Project Implementation. Represent Ameresco while interacting with customers and work closely with the internal design team as well as external clients and consultants (including owners, builders, developers, program managers, architects, vendors, etc.). Design building electrical systems including power distribution, electrical engineering support for solar systems and battery energy storage. Design medium and low voltage electrical generation and distribution systems. Develop appropriate system concepts, perform calculations, layout, sizing, selections, specifications, and coordination. Perform site investigations of existing electrical systems for evaluation or to inspect work in progress/completed. Communicate effectively and coordinate/meet with project teams, senior staff members, project managers, and clients. Manage project timelines and provide team-wide updates. Process RFIs, submittals, and design revisions. Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience designing grid-scale power plants. Ability to review confidential US security information.
Additional Qualifications:
Current Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP and Revit/BIM. Proficient in design and calculation software (ETAP, SKM); MS Office. Thorough understanding of applicable codes. Ability to travel as required. Experience working in an Engineering and/or Architectural/Engineering consulting firm strongly preferred. Experience working on Federal projects preferred. Leadership, initiative, and problem-solving skills for large-scale projects.
