Cloud Solutions Architect - Public Sector (IC4)
Location: Washington, DC
Job Summary
NetApp's Public Cloud Services team seeks an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect to drive adoption of Amazon Web Services FSx for NetApp ONTAP (FSxN) within the public sector. This role will focus on federal, state, and local government agencies in the Washington DC metropolitan area, working closely with both AWS and NetApp teams to deliver first-party cloud storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Solution Design
* Design and architect cloud storage solutions for government workloads using FSxN
* Lead technical workshops and proof-of-concepts for public sector customers
* Provide architectural guidance on cloud adoption, migration strategies, and security compliance
* Develop reference architectures and technical documentation specific to government use cases
Customer Engagement
* Serve as the technical authority in customer meetings with senior IT leadership
* Drive strategic discussions around cloud transformation initiatives
* Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned agencies
* Collaborate with AWS public sector team on joint customer engagements
Evangelism & Community Building
* Present at government technology conferences and AWS public sector events
* Create thought leadership content focused on cloud adoption in government
* Enable AWS architect community on NetApp solutions for public sector workloads
* Build relationships with system integrators and technology partners
Required Qualifications
* 8+ years of experience in technical solutions architecture or similar roles
* Strong understanding of federal IT requirements, FedRAMP, and security compliance
* Proven track record of driving complex technical solutions in government environments
* Experience with cloud infrastructure, storage systems, and data management
* Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with senior government IT leaders
* AWS certifications or equivalent experience (Security certification preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
* Public sector experience, particularly with federal civilian or defense agencies
* Background in storage systems, data protection, or disaster recovery
* Experience with container technologies and cloud-native architectures
* Active security clearance or ability to obtain one
* Additional cloud certifications (Azure, GCP)
Location
* Position is based in the Washington DC metropolitan area
* Regular travel to government customer sites in the DC/MD/VA region required
* Occasional travel to other government locations within North America

Job Requirements
Education

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 202,385 - 261,910 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. The range is based on 'On Target Earnings' (OTE) representing the total potential earnings, which is the sum of the base salary and potential commission earned when performance targets are achieved. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU's). These offerings are subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. We will provide detailed information about the specific benefits for your region during the recruitment process.
