Safeguards and Security Specialist I

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active DoE Q clearance or the ability to obtain a DoE Q clearance to be considered.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Safeguards and Security Specialist I to support the implementation, administration, and management of Department of Energy (DOE) Safeguards and Security (S&S) Program requirements. The ideal candidate will assist in personnel and physical security activities, compliance monitoring, and security program audits.

Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Safeguards and Security Specialist I: $60,000 to $80,000
Pay commensurate with experience.
Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Safeguards and Security Specialist I Responsibilities Include:
* Assist in the administration of DOE S&S program requirements.
* Perform Personnel Security (PERSEC) administrative tasks, including security clearance requests, tracking, and follow-ups.
* Manage Physical Security (PHYSEC) activities such as badging, access control, and visitor requests.
* Coordinate and lead daily PERSEC and PHYSEC status meetings.
* Ensure compliance with and maintain tracking for S&S Training & Education (SATE) programs.
* Onboard new employees and off-board departing personnel.
* Deliver S&S briefings as required.
* Participate in S&S assessments, DOE Enterprise Assessments, Cybersecurity inspections, and audits.
* Support technical security service requests and physical security system testing.
* Conduct facility audits, inspections, and searches of personal hand-carried items.
* Maintain tracking spreadsheets and manage the SSPO intranet page.
* Process PERSEC reporting requirements and generate government correspondence.
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Safeguards and Security Specialist I Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
* Bachelor's degree in a related field (or four years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree).
* Three (3) years of experience in S&S functions, including PERSEC and PHYSEC activities.
* Ability to deliver concise and effective presentations.
* Knowledge of government policies and security regulations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
* Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.
* Ability to work independently with discretion and sound judgment.
* Capacity to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
* Understanding of end-user technology and equipment.
* Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
