What You Will Do: The Product Engineer II position reports to the Engineering Manager and will be located onsite in Federalsburg, MD. Our Product Engineer II is responsible for the engineering of industrial refrigeration systems such as ice-skating rinks, cold storage warehouses, food production plants, and pharmaceutical plants. How You Will Do It:
The candidate must possess a clear understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics to develop piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment plans, and project contract documents. Must be able to manage complex projects independently as well as working with a multi-disciplinary team. Engineering piping systems and relief headers, performing heat load calculations, specifying compressors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, valves, motors, starters, condensing units, and pumps. Ensure designs are compliant with relevant codes and standards such as ASME, IIAR, and ASHRAE. The candidate will coordinate with procurement to specify specialized equipment. Provide technical support and guidance to engineers, designers, shop floor personnel, welders, fabricators, and service technicians. Work with shop personnel to prevent and/or rectify any fabrication issues. Provide guidance, troubleshooting, and support in the field to technicians, customers, and contractors. Review shop drawings Collaborate with product development team to assist in the implementation of new products and the continuous improvement of existing products. Participate in continuous improvement projects such as drawing automation and standardization. Conduct installation supervision and system startup assistance in the field. Coordinate with quality control team throughout the fabrication process to ensure clients receive mechanically sound and aesthetically pleasing products. Provide technical support to sales staff. Coordinate with the design team and with third-party engineering firms to create SolidWorks 3D models and drawings of refrigeration equipment for customer approval and fabrication.
What We Look For: Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial refrigeration or a related field. Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics. Proficiency in AutoCAD software, particularly SolidWorks. Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as ASME, IIAR, and ASHRAE. Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage complex projects independently. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Willingness to travel as needed for field support and installation supervision. Ability to travel 5 to 10%
