Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8)

Department/Organization: 870501 - Student Governance

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some nights and weekends.

Job Summary: The SGA Program Manager oversees the daily administrative needs identified by the student executive cabinet/council of the Student Government Association (SGA). Supports the successful planning, execution, and development of signature events. Provides leadership to, coordinates regular meetings with, and cultivates collaboration and coordination between the Advisory Groups working closely with SGA to aid in upholding the mission and vision of SGA, their executive board, and the mission of the Division of Student Life by supporting student leader development. Supports the SGA leaders, leadership development, and training for student leaders, and the events/activities. Establishes positive collaborative relationships with University departments, divisions, and administration; the UA Systems Office; student organizations; community and state governmental officials, agencies, and organizations; SGA and UA alumni; etc.

Additional Department Summary: The Student Government Association is a mission-critical component of The University of Alabama and the Division of Student Life.

This role reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and the Vice President for Student Life to ensure a collaborative vision and mission. Completes required trainings and aides in promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace and office environment. Holds staff accountable for completion of required trainings. Supervises one administrative support staff which executes daily tasks designed at supporting the SGA mission.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of student or student organization advising experience; OR master's degree and some student or student organization advising experience.

Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of Student Development Theory. Ability to plan, direct and evaluate a complex operation by using available resources to accomplish both short and long-term goals of the institution, division, and Student Government. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leader with the ability to work in a team environment. Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to conduct presentations and training workshops, student programming, and student leadership. Demonstrated commitment to expanding their knowledge, awareness, and skills as evidenced through demonstrating self-awareness; understanding and valuing others; interacting effectively with people at various levels (faculty, staff, students, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education, business, communications, student personnel, higher education, counseling or a related field and five (5) years of professional leadership experience in a higher education setting or a related field; OR master's degree in education, business, communications, student personnel, higher education, counseling or a related field and three (3) years of professional leadership experience in a higher education setting; OR a doctorate in higher education with some experience. Mentoring experience. Experience with student government, relationship building, developing sponsorships and partnerships for programs, advancement or alumni experience, staff supervision, and budget management experience. Experience advising students or student organizations; experience working with large scale programming, event planning; Have experience working in and among organizations with strong emphasis on collaboration, relationship-building, and program management.
