DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Worker 2, you will develop, implement, and coordinate social work and case management services for inmates at SCI Phoenix. This will include making decisions regarding what types of services, programs, and treatment are required for the inmates. In this position, you will be conducting group or individual counseling as directed for reentry and discharge programming. Another responsibility of this position is preparing formal written reports concerning an inmate's progress, monitoring their adjustment while at SCI Phoenix, and reporting overall recommendations to the courts and other authorities. You will also be managing complex cases of inmates who are served by both the mental health system and the correctional setting. Additionally, you will be making independent decisions to advise, assist, and plan for inmates based on understanding how systems affect, conflict, and interact with one another in the overall success of the inmates. - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or
- Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or
- Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or
- A master's degree in social work or social welfare.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
