The department of Plant Sciences within the College for Agriculture and Life and Environmental Sciences of the University of Arizona seeks to fill the position of Research Technician I for temporary employment. This position conducts and supports laboratory research on bacterial chemotaxis by carrying out and developing protocols to address challenging research questions, designing and performing experiments, summarizing and interpreting experiment data, and submitting research reports in a laboratory setting.

Duties & Responsibilities |
- Experimental
design, and experimental set up (Bacterial culturing, genetic manipulations of bacteria, genetic screens of bacterial, physiological assays such as chemotaxis assays, etc) - Record
keeping, making observations, analyzing data, and interpreting experimental results - Preparation
of technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative results - Laboratory
preparations and cleaning (disposing cultures, cleaning glassware, autoclaving glassware, preparing and sterilizing media, buffers, and reagents, etc)
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Molecular biology skills such cloning and
sequence analysis

Minimum Qualifications |
- High
school diploma or high school diploma equivalency
|
Preferred Qualifications |
- B.S. degree in microbiology or a related expertise
- Previous microbiology laboratory experience
- Prior experience with bacterial culturing, chemotaxis assays, and microscopy
- Prior experience with genomic sequencing and analyses
