Job Summary: Fiber Optics Laboratory Technician works in collaboration with the R&D team, materials engineers, process engineers, and product engineers to test, troubleshoot and technical advice on fiber optic products. You will be involved on executing the test plan and documenting the results. The technician will collaborate on the startup of the laboratory equipment. The technician will also contribute to the day-to-day activities conducted in the lab. This position will be based in Tucson, AZ. Responsibilities: Support the startup of the R&D Fiber Laboratory; Perform optical, physical, mechanical, and environmental tests on fiber optic cable and connectivity products; Execute qualification plans based on product requirements and industry standards; Design and improve existing test procedures to enhance accuracy; Work closely with the R&D Engineers to evaluate new materials, tools & equipment for laboratory use; Generate test reports with data analysis, technical conclusions, and recommendations to the engineering team; Assemble fiber optic prototypes and perform equipment troubleshooting as requiredSupport inventory of consumable materials required for testingSupport preventive maintenance of the fiberlaboratory equipment. Required Skills and Experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills to effectively deal with individuals at all levels; Well-developed organization skills, including the ability to handle many details and multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment; Knowledge of Fiber Optic Test equipment and test parameters; Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to utilize precision hand tools; Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel as it relates to report generation; Excellent project management skills with proven follow-through with commitments; Ability to maintain good records in accordance with company policy and procedures; Ability to work effectively in a close team environment in a culturally diverse workplace.
