Job Description: Position Summary: The Manager of SBA & USDA Relationships will lead, develop, and manage the SBA/USDA Relationship Managers to promote the Credit Union's SBA/USDA expertise and focus on opportunities that adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the Small Business Administration. This role is accountable for providing guidance in managing specific opportunities cultivated by SBA/USDA Relationship Managers, plays a key role in structuring opportunities to limit risk and maximize premiums for loan sales, ensures that opportunities are in-line with SBA requirements, working with Loan Servicing Departments, and maintaining and developing internal expertise in this area of lending. The incumbent is accountable for diligently working with internal and external partners for credit approval, working with internal and external documentation specialists, and educational partners to continue to grow the SBA/USDA knowledge base. Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead, develop and manage a team of SBA/USDA Relationship Managers to promote business development opportunities
- Review and structure SBA/USDA opportunities to minimize risk and maximize premium loan sales
- Lead and manage Team business development efforts through screening, comprehensive financial analysis, and consistent tracking of new business opportunities, to move leads to closed new business
- Manage the SBA/USDA team's portfolios, collections, and documentation collection efforts including portfolio maintenance reviews with a focus on past due loans and maturing loans and adhering to policies and procedures of Everwise and the SOP of the SBA
- Lead regular SBA/USDA team meetings to ensure that the pipelines meet objectives and are accurate
- Develop and maintain relationships with investors that purchase SBA/USDA Loans
- Oversee and manage the entire SBA/USDA sale process
- Develop, communicate and track incentive compensation plans of SBA/USDA Relationship Managers
- Develop and implement an SBA/USDA educational program for Relationship Managers, processors, underwriters and credit approvers
- Active participation in professional relationships and events to enhance Everwise's visibility and secure new SBA/USDA opportunities within the community
- Attend all loan committees and be an active participant in individual and team opportunity presentations
- Assist the Risk Management team and play a key role in managing any SBA/USDA troubled loans
- Assume additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement Everwise
Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to lead, mentor and coach a team of SBA/USDA Relationship Mangers
- SBA experience with good working knowledge of the SBA SOP and USDA lending programs
- Possess an understanding of the SBA application forms
- Superior negotiator, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Utilize interpersonal skills in interviewing, negotiating, selling, and managing difficult conversations with team and commercial members
- Safeguard the best interest of Everwise and its members through prudent lending practices and risk mitigation
- Working knowledge with outside services or third-party vendors, such as loan service and documentation providers, and working knowledge of 10-tab tracking process and/or procedures
- Strong understanding of commercial credit, loan services, and credit risk policies and procedures
- Skilled in structuring SBA solutions for a geographically diverse clientele, including large and small corporate and commercial entities, both prospective and existing clients
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment
- Outstanding skills in financial software and Microsoft Office suite
- Understand and adhere to government laws, regulations, and Everwise's policies and procedures concerning Anti-Money Laundering Regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US PATRIOT ACT and OFAC
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4+ years' experience in SBA lending platforms, portfolio management and financial service industry
- 2+ years leading and managing a team
- CPA, relevant certifications, or advanced degree, preferred
- USDA experience, preferred
