Job Type: Full-time

Experience: 3 years minimum

Reports to: Controller, no supervisory responsibility

Wage: $65,000-$75,000 annual salary (based on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant position is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing company. The position will assume daily and monthly accounting tasks with a focus on multi-state sales tax research and filings, and fixed asset accounting. The position will be based out of our Corporate Office in New Hampton, IA. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of accounting experience, strong analytical and processing skills, and be team-oriented with excellent communication skills. Experience in a construction-related field would be beneficial.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Research and maintain sales tax maxtrix in all states business is conducted and additional states as needed.
  • Prepare sales tax exemption forms for purchases and review incoming forms from customers.
  • Record property and personal property tax for accruals and submit payments to Accounts Payable department along with filing personal property renditions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, by ensuring and maintaining proper backup documentation.
  • Collect, review, and post data from operations.
  • Analyze, report, and validate key data by maintaining or developing spreadsheet reports or utilizing our software solution programs.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts, review entries and financial statements.
  • Assist with year-end audits and regulatory filings.
  • Key role within the team to ensure monthly close and other deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, and regulations.
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work as this job description is non-exhaustive.



Position Requirements:



  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen and drug test.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; or applicable experience.
  • PC proficiency (specifically Microsoft applications) and strong Excel skills.

  • Willing to work until 5 pm and sometimes outside of normal business hours.
  • Overnight travel is not standard.
