Technical Manager, Structures

At RK&K, we are hiring an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. As a senior member of our Structures team at RK&K you will focus on leading a variety of dynamic structural pursuits and projects as it relates to transportation. You should have state (Virginia/VDOT) and municipal experience, be highly proactive, able to develop creative technical solutions, have a strong understanding of structural operations and hands-on experience with bridge design and field operations.

Essential Function

• Provide structural expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contract documents for construction followed by construction administration with respect to the structural aspects of the project
• Serve as Technical Manager on a variety of structure related projects
• Produce construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates is a plus
• Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
• Serve as liaison between client and firm
• QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work
• Provide bridge inspection for clients as needed
• Provide engineering judgment and initiative within the Structural Engineering field
• Train and mentor entry level and junior level structural engineers

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering
• Eight (8) or more years of bridge design/inspection experience
• Excellent communication skills including proposal development
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Virginia

Preferred Skills and Experience

• VDOT structures/bridge experience, including experience on VDOT DB Projects
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering
