METROPOLITAN COUNCIL SEEKS AN ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF LABOR RELATIONS

The Assistant Director of Labor Relations plays a pivotal role in managing the labor relations functions within the Metropolitan Council. This position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and administration of labor relations strategies, policies, and programs.

The Assistant Director serves as liaison between executive leadership and labor unions; provides decision-making, data, communications, and recommendations to Met Council leaders and the management committee; and fosters a positive and productive relationship among all stakeholders. This position reports to the HR Director: Employee Operations and works with the Met Council's executive management team.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and exceptional communicator who excels at building and fostering relationships across diverse teams. They bring a strong background in driving organizational growth and guiding successful transitions, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation. The Assistant Director of Labor Relations is based in our downtown Saint Paul office (with regular onsite meetings at our Metro Transit offices in Minneapolis and other Met Council facilities throughout the metro area), must live in Minnesota or Wisconsin, and has hybrid flexibility to work remotely.
