Columbia University's Department of Medicine, Division of Digestive & Liver Diseases is inviting applicants for a Staff Associate II position in one of our research units.

Scientists in the Worman Lab have generated iPS cell lines with deletions of the genes encoding A-type lamins and emerin and mice with conditional deletion of A-type lamins from adult cardiomyocytes and skeletal muscle myofibers. The Staff Associate will be responsible for culturing and differentiation of iPS cells into cardiomyocytes, analyzing transcriptomic and proteomics data of the cardiomyocytes, and further characterization of the cardiomyocytes.

This position requires background knowledge of cell biology and genetics, specifically cell culture, iPS cell differentiation, understanding genetic basis of disease, analysis of complex RNA and protein datasets. Responsibilities include mouse breeding, phenotyping, and characterization of the mutant mice which are generated and presenting data in publications and presentations.

The Staff Associate II will work under limited supervision on complex assignments that require a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. Candidates should be able to comprehend and implement experimental procedures and take corrective action where necessary, in consultation with the director and postdocs. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in education and experience required.

Preferred Qualifications: 4 years of relevant experience preferred.
