Position Description: |
The University of Iowa, College of Dentistry has an opening for a NIH-funded post-doctoral research scholar in Dr. Ransome van der Hoeven's laboratory in the Iowa Institute for Oral Health Research. Dr. van der Hoeven's lab uses the C. elegans model to identify immune and stress responses generated in the worm against the mitis group streptococci. This project will focus on the mechanisms of regulation of two bZIP transcription factors that mediate these protective responses in the worm. This will require propagation and genetic manipulation of C. elegans, molecular biology, western blot, fluorescent microscopy, and cell culture work. |

- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; and
