About the Role

As the Manufacturing Systems Engineer II at Watlow, you will lead the development and optimization of integrated manufacturing systems for new products. This role focuses on ensuring the design of manufacturing systems supports efficient production flow, evaluating existing systems against new product needs, and driving continuous improvement through simulation modeling and data analysis.

Your Key Responsibilities



  • Lead Advanced Manufacturing Teams. Guide teams in developing integrated manufacturing systems (Process, Machines, Tooling/Fixtures, Footprint, Material Storage & Movement, etc.) for new products.
  • Supports Manufacturing Flow. Ensure new products and manufacturing systems are designed to support efficient manufacturing flow.
  • Identifies Production Gaps. Evaluate current manufacturing systems against new product requirements to identify capability gaps.
  • Knowledge Sharing. Actively capture and share knowledge to support standardization of robust process methods and tooling.
  • Simulation Modeling. Develop, test, and refine simulation models using Arena to analyze manufacturing systems, including production lines, supply chains, and front-end processes.
  • Process Optimization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for workflow and process improvements and use simulation models to optimize performance.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting. Collect and analyze operational data to build accurate simulation models and provide insights to stakeholders.
  • Strategic Decision Support. Provide analytical support for strategic decision-making by simulating scenarios and assessing the impact of changes to manufacturing operations.
  • Documentation and Communication. Maintain comprehensive documentation of simulation models, processes, and findings, and communicate results clearly to all levels of the organization.
  • Collaboration. Work closely with engineering, production, IT, and management teams to ensure alignment with business goals.



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2 + years of experience in simulation modeling, particularly with Arena or similar simulation software (e.g., Anylogic, Simio, Simul8, Flexsim).
  • Proven background in manufacturing or operations environments.
  • Expertise in data analysis and statistical interpretation using tools such as Excel, Matlab, or R.
  • Experience modeling complex systems and analyzing results to drive decision-making.



Desired Qualifications



  • Experience with other simulation or optimization tools (e.g., AnyLogic, Simio) or enterprise software systems (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or continuous improvement practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on identifying inefficiencies and driving improvements.
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering results on time.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and mentoring or leading junior team members.
  • Knowledge of Vision systems, IoT-enabled equipment, Digital Twins, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
