The Senior Engineer (Technical Service) role supports the technical service interface in coordination with TS, R&D, and sales. Through active participation on the Advanced Packaging and Converting team the person in this position will support the pressure sensitive adhesives used at converters. Will build a comprehensive understanding of Bostik Pressure Sensitive Adhesives including formulation, physical properties, analytical properties, bond performance, and manufacturing and develop knowledge of the Labels, Tapes, and Specialties markets. Responsible for usingproduct line knowledge, interpretation of lab testing results, and understanding of applications and equipment to provide technical support with the goal of maintaining current business and growing new business in partnership with sales. #LI-TJ1 Key Activities
- Identifies potential causes of customer problems and helps to develop plan to resolve.
- Troubleshoots technical process and product problems with ingenuity and initiative in the lab and in conjunction with commercial personnel.
- Organizes and analyzes data to explain conclusions/outcomes to R&D group.
- Simulates technical issues on lab scale equipment to help resolve problems.
- Identifies and quantifies product improvement opportunities and proposes to technical/commercial communities.
- Helps determine validity of product performance complaints using product specifications, QC data and lab results.
- Sample preparation with attention to chemical safety protocol and lab testing with accuracy, precision, and responsiveness including physical and performance testing.
- Modify products as needed for specific customer applications and perform lab work to document modification improvements.
- Interacts with internal and/or external customers to identify needs and/or opportunities and help translate them into technical projects.
- Develops a sphere of influence with peers in customers' organization to establish Arkema as preferred supplier.
- Completes and documents technical service and application projects with limited supervision.
- Trains new employees, peers and subordinates in area of expertise.

- Actively promotes safe behavior in the workgroup and takes responsibility for personal safe lab operations.

Qualifications and Experience Required
- BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or other technical field with 2+ years of industrial experience in chemical or plastics field, or MS in related field.
- Understands analytical and evaluation capabilities for material and product analyses.
- Qualified to operate multiple pieces of processing equipmentand candemonstrateat least one process expertise area with greater depth of fundamental understanding.
- Conducts internal trialsand has a practical understanding of product testing and processing; reports results accurately. Understands major customer application areas.
- Proficient in MS Office including statistics in Excel.
- Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.

- Travelup to 33% with primary focus on North America.
