Summary: This position is a primary interface for manufacturing smart family technology development. Collaboration Global (Japan) and regional research and development teams to advance new technologies such as IoT and AI. This position interfaces with the L2L smart factory development team to advance AI Assist software development. These methods are developed and tested within ASTEMO manufacturing locations to improved new technology parts manufacturing for the xEV and Mobility Solutions business units. A primary technology under development currently includes video capture and analysis. These new developments will be shared with Global Smart Factory team members as well as all of the 12 within the USA, and 1 within Canada. I Periodically the scope of this role will expand outside of the US and Canada. These sites specifically are in Mexico (6) and Brazil (4). This position exercises independent judgment routinely and operates within established guidelines.

Additional responsibilities will be to interface with global carbon neutral teams to share new energy and carbon footprint reduction practices. This role gathers new best practice methods and shares within the regional organization as note above. This is an individual contributor role in which working with multiple other disciplines within the organization will be required.

Essential Functions: Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by Regional and Sub-Regional management). Work responsibilities will vary depending upon the requirements of each site. This position will apply and test best practice methods outlined by:

Global Smart Factory Organization and managing data flows through systems such as Minio. Interfacing with Carbon Neutral Teams to report and promote carbon footprint reduction. Transfer knowledge to Production Engineering teams as applicable.

Additional work duties will include:

  • Manage all aspects of process improvement in support of Site Improvement Plans. These Site Improvement Plans will promote improved site business performance.
  • As Necessary, manage all planning activities regarding new process design, investment planning, project schedules, plant layout, and process verification as required by each assigned project.
  • Manage Projects and related team activity regarding new process introduction and Kaizen.
  • Promote periodic improvement planning and manage implementation for processes in assigned product area or specific process technology to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
  • Provide advanced technical support including PE staff support, training, troubleshooting and resolution of area specific technology, process, or equipment issues, as required to achieve Lean Manufacturing goals.
  • Effectively communicate with cross functional team, area management, related co-workers, contractors, vendors, and customers as required to ensure project schedule, budget, and planned results are achieved, with minimal impact to normal operations.
  • Specify, source, and procure necessary tooling, equipment, and resources required to complete assigned projects within established guidelines. Balance reporting staff assignments to meet all company objectives.
  • Promote technology transfer to Production technical staff and team members to support new process launches and process improvements, as required to meet company objectives.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff required. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information is required.
  • Some customer interface may be required from time to time. Excellent people skills will be required.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and following all regulations and requirements related to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Responsible for following all quality policy standards.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications.   • Experience and Proficient regarding

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field required.

Master's Degree Preferred

Experience: 10+ years prior related experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory responsibilities are positional, not direct reporting.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Ability to work 40 - 60 hours per week, including weekends and holiday work.

Travel: Domestic travel required (average < 5 days per month) and international travel required (average < 2 weeks per year), to meet standard job requirements.

Work Environment: Balanced between office and manufacturing areas. Some remote work is acceptable.
