Linux Bringup Engineer (ARM-based SoC)

Overview:
We are seeking a SoC Emulation and Linux Bringup Engineer to work on the second iteration of our internally developed ARM-based SoC. This involves the bringup and integration of firmware, bootloader, and Linux on a 4-core ARM A53 processor. The work will be performed on an emulation platform (S2C Single S10 10M Prodigy Logic System) and will require collaboration with the existing drivers and IP from the previous ARM A9-based version.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bring up ARM Trusted Firmware, U-Boot, and Linux on the new ARM A53-based SoC.
  • Develop and integrate the following components:
    • ARM Trusted Firmware (BL2, BL31, BL33)
    • U-Boot bootloader
    • Linux kernel 5.10-rt

  • Adapt and port existing drivers (UART, I2C) from previous version (Majic1, ARM A9).
  • Ensure proper processor initialization, including cache, GIC, timers, watchdog, reset, and SMP support.
  • Implement Ethernet driver support (Synopsys DWC Ether MAC 10/100/1000).
  • Manage kernel and filesystem booting from both eMMC and network (TFTP, NFS).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and validate firmware and software components.
  • Port and adapt drivers from the previous ARM A9-based SoC to the new ARM A53 architecture.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SoC emulation, firmware, bootloader, and Linux bringup.
  • Develop test procedures and perform hardware/software validation to ensure system stability and functionality.
  • Monitor system performance and address optimization requirements for boot times and reliability.
  • Document design, code, and testing procedures for internal knowledge sharing.

Requirements:
  • Strong experience with ARM-based SoC development and Linux bringup.
  • Familiarity with ARM Trusted Firmware, U-Boot, and Linux kernel boot processes.
  • Experience with driver development and porting, particularly for UART, I2C, and Ethernet.
  • Ability to work with emulation platforms (preferably S2C or similar).
  • Knowledge of embedded systems development, debugging, and performance optimization.
