The Neighborhood and Human Services Department has an exciting opportunity for a Youth Services Manager to join the team. This position oversees a variety of impactful youth programs including the Department of Health Services licensed before and after school (AM/PM) program (at 22 locations), summer and break camps, Lil' Learner's preschool (at one location) and the youth advisory board.

The ideal candidate for this position will have: / Key Responsibilities:



  • Solid operational background with a passion for providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.


  • The ability to create, oversee and offer youth services to a community.
  • Successful recruiting, planning and organizational developmental skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Experience in public sector budgeting, including revenue generation and expenditure tracking.
  • An outgoing and energetic style that can easily support, motivate and encourage staff.
  • A strong personal connection and dedication to delivering outstanding programming through the Youth Services Division
  • A strong track record of preparing comprehensive analyses and technical reports for departmental leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience with a consistent progression of increasing responsibilities.
  • A proven ability to build strategic partnerships and collaborate with internal departments and regional partners, including the Peoria Unified School District.
  • The ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and honestly with staff, peers and upper levels of management.
  • The ability to influence staff, peers and upper management to agree with your ideas, support your proposals, or take the desired action.


The posting will run continuously until filled, with the first review of applicants occurring 2/10/25, and subsequent reviews every two weeks

Other Requirements

Minimum Requirements:



  • Education: A bachelor's degree in any field or equivalent. Equivalent years of experience are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience for every one (1) year of education required.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years related experience.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Obtain and maintain a valid class 1 fingerprint clearance card within 10 days of hire.
  • CPR/First Aid certified within 1 year of hire.
  • Negative TB test required.


Preferred / Desirable Qualifications:



  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.
  • A minimum of five (5) years previous supervisory experience.
  • Direct experience working with state-licensed childcare programs.
