JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a candidate for a Research Technologist - Medical Sciences position to work in the lab of Shaili Amatya, MD.The successful applicant will have experience in cell culture (cell treatment, harvesting, transfection), as well as molecular biology techniques (DNA and RNA extraction, quantitative real-time PCR, Western blot analysis, ELISAs, immunohistochemistry). The position will require processing of human saliva, tracheal aspirate, blood, stool, and urine samples under approved protocols. This position will also require animal - rodent/mice handling, breeding colony maintenance under approved protocols. The applicant should be able to work on weekends and evenings when experiments occasionally dictate. Experience with Mac and PC computers, Word, and Excel are necessary.

This position will be filled at an Professional or Intermediate Professional depending on the candidate's education and experience. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience required for higher level positions.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, withpossibility of refunding.

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $55,500.00
