Summary

The purpose of the IT Solutions Analyst role is to analyze business and technical processes to create enhanced solutions within various functional areas such as Sales, Service, Rental, Parts, Inventory Control, Finance, Marketing, and Human Resources solutions. The Solutions Analyst will identify opportunities to leverage and gain value from various technologies and work through others to accomplish deliverables. This position will stay up to date with evolving application trends, new technologies and best practices, as well as technology roadmaps and dealer requirements for Caterpillar and other related OEM providers of equipment and parts. This role is also responsible for resolution of support issues escalated by the support team or key business partners.

Essential Functions

  • Document scope, business requirements, system configuration, design, functional specifications, and training material related to solution enhancements as well as larger scale projects.
  • Identify functionality gaps and continuous improvement opportunities, translating into root cause analysis and recommendations to decrease support needs and enhance business usability. Also develop appropriate business cases to support strategic initiatives and business changes.
  • Build strong partnerships in support of business and IT strategic plan, ensuring the alignment with Global objectives.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts & Project Managers on defining functional and non-functional requirements based on business and system understanding, providing input into RFI/RFP processes/documents, as well as overall test programs including IT testing, user testing, technical/integration testing and load testing.
  • Define and execute test cases for unit, integration, system functional, stress and regression testing
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing including partnering with business users in creation of test cases, execution of testing, and sign-off from business product owners.
  • Serve as project manager for small to mid-sized projects including managing project tasks, collaborating with others on progress and ensuring delivery within agreed upon timelines
  • Serve as primary point of contact and point of interaction with the business, with responsibility for business area satisfaction.
  • Monitors and maintains system performance, performs impact assessment, tests, and implements patches and upgrades, and addresses issues as they arise.
  • Provide leadership on projects and facilitates the definition of project deliverables. Completes project deliverables based on the agreed scope; estimates work effort, duration, resources, and requirements; ensures that requirements are being met.
  • Define tracking mechanisms and ensures IT standards and methodology are met; manages business partner expectations and project scope; motivates team members; tracks IT resources; appropriately reports status; delivers quality results.
  • Serve as technical lead for operational support issues escalated by support team members or key business partners, working with internal team members and vendors for resolution.
  • Work with Solution Architect on defining and evaluating existing vendor capabilities, system enhancements, and new solutions.
  • Develop data extracts and reports, and collaborate with BI team and integrations team providing relevant queries and table definitions as needed.
  • Coordinate with other IT teams and vendors in the execution of system maintenance, upgrades/implementations, system and data restorations, mass data changes and system cleanup.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in business processes/systems analysis
  • Experience serving as a business analyst or solutions analyst on medium and large-scale projects including post-implementation support
  • Experience with Enterprise ERP platforms and/or warehouse management solutions
  • Experience implementing 3rd party solutions and working with vendors for solution design, integration and ongoing support
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence applications
  • Experience with legacy midrange or mainframe systems and applications preferred
  • Experience with databases, SQL, and ETL tools preferred
  • Strong technical acuity and aptitude
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and bring together complex pieces of a puzzle into a cohesive plan
  • Experience applying concepts and techniques from various agile approaches
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
