Summary

The Psychology Program at Saint Xavier University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track open rank professor position in Psychology. The area of expertise is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, biological, and/or social psychology, or whose expertise intersects across subdisciplines in psychology.

The Psychology major is one of the most popular majors in the university and prides itself on offering a strong undergraduate curriculum, providing ample student-faculty research opportunities, and supporting career mentoring and preparation. In addition, the Psychology Department serves various other majors and minors in addition to the general education social sciences requirement.

Start date is in the Fall of 2025. Rank depends on credentials and years of experience; salary commensurate with experience.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credit hours each semester in psychology courses related to one's area of expertise
  • Establish a program of research leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations
  • Mentor undergraduate students in student-faculty research
  • Provide service to the program, college, and university

Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Ph.D.) in psychology or a closely related discipline (ABD applicants will be considered, contingent on a successful doctoral defense prior to August 1, 2025)
  • Evidence of or potential for excellent teaching, including use of evidence-based best practices in teaching and learning
  • Demonstrated research potential
  • Interest in engaging undergraduate students in research
