The Opportunity:

The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) Human Resources Department is currently seeking to hire an HR Partner to support our Facilities Department. The HR Partner acts as a liaison for Human Resources by answering inquiries on topics including recruiting/interviewing, onboarding, benefits administration, policy interpretation, discipline, etc. This person provides prompt frontline assistance to faculty and staff and hands-off to subject matter experts (SMEs), when appropriate, to ensure the Facilities department is appropriately supported at all times. This role includes providing expert consultation and guidance on performance management, discipline, grievances, and separations while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. The HR Partner position is physically located at the Daytona Beach, campus and but may also support the Prescott campus.

This position maintains thorough documentation and facilitates communication with employees and supervisors on case outcomes. Qualified candidates must have a proven ability to manage multiple pressing priorities with a high level of confidentiality, attention to detail and impeccable follow through. The HR Partner participates in the documentation of standard operating procedures and preparing draft updates to policies as regulations or laws warrant or as deemed necessary by the HR department or university. The HR Partner, Facilities reports to the Executive Director, Human Resources and works closely with all other functional areas throughout the Human Resources Department.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least three years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating and promoting HR best practices in the context of organizational goals and objectives; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience

  • Degree or specialization in Human Resources is strongly preferred
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is highly desirable
  • Two + years of direct experience in employee relations (counseling, performance management, supervisory development, conflict resolution, etc.)
  • Employee relations experience in a higher education environment is preferred
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal laws and regulations including, but not limited to, FLSA, EEO/AA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, FMLA, and other relevant areas of compliance
  • Experience coaching and mentoring managers on the process of performance evaluation
  • Experience working in a confidential environment and handling sensitive information with the utmost integrity
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to work with diverse constituents
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and commitment to work and willingly assumes responsibility for accomplishing objectives; is reliable, and diligently follows through on commitment
  • Demonstrates the ability to concentrate on a task and meet deadlines, despite interruptions and competing priorities and demands
  • Proficiency with technology and software programs including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Zoom, Teams, SharePoint, databases, and other software/internet applications; experience with Workday HRIS a plus
